Carrot

“Carrot” (2014) is based on a piece that originally appeared in Jorge Blanco’s “Solo Blanco” exhibition in Sarasota, Florida called “Slice.” Along with “Tomato” and “Papaya” these works are some of Blanco’s most whimsical, bringing his angular vision to fruits and vegetables. The sculpture leans like the Tower of Pisa, with an orange body and three small strips in green above as the petiole. Remarkable in its simplicity, the position looks like someone has almost fully pulled it from the ground, yet another example of Blanco’s command of movement.
