In the Park with Red Bird

“In the Park with Red Bird” (2020) uses clean angles and Jorge Blanco’s loveable moon-faced subject to convey introspection and relaxation all at once. With a background in industrial design, Blanco began to incorporate both mechanical and organic concepts into his work early on, finding inspiration in nature for his sculptures and drawings. This figure is in stunning yellow, a color often associated with happiness, optimism, and summer itself. Leaning back on his elbows, head tilted toward the welcoming sky, with one knee cocked up and the other leg outstretched, the sculpture captures the freedom and peacefulness of resting on the grass in your favorite park, people-watching and soaking up the sun.
