Bluest

“Bluest” (2017) casts Jorge Blanco’s trademark subject in a unique shape. Using primarily curves instead of straight lines, with large openings on each individual segment, the one-eyed figure seems to be swaying side to side, conveying Blanco’s love of rhythm and movement. While the color blue may symbolize many things, from tranquility, to the ocean, to eternity, Blanco himself has said numerous times that he chooses blue simply because he likes blue. This child-like wonder and joy at the vibrancy of colors is at the core of Blanco’s being, forming an instantaneous connection with observers everywhere who fall in love with his work on sight.
