Hello

“Hello” (2022) is one of Jorge Blanco’s more abstract (and playful) portraits. The rounded scalene triangle of the body is a common recurring feature, as are the dots to represent buttons, and the parallel lines that extend from the figure to signify movement. The minimal use of sharp colors allows us to interpret the form, distinguishing a shirt, the rounded face with the lines through it that could be the mouth, the ear, a myriad of features, and a dark background that frames the greeter so well. Lastly, the tilt of the round white shape above suggests a cheerfulness that Blanco loves to imbue his pieces with, bringing a smile with every glance.
