Hola

“Hola” (2020) demonstrates Jorge Blanco’s whimsical style perfectly. While using only five colors throughout the whole piece, Blanco’s deliberate positioning of straight and curved lines to create a figure gives us the impression of a small child looking up to say “Hello.” The negative space of the eyes amplifies this child-like nature, along with the spikey hair and tiny neck. His attention to spacing gives us a clear separation of ground and sky, further reinforcing our perspective as an adult looking down at the youth.
